Vote In The Presidential Preference Primary.

Georgia’s Presidential Preference Primary will be held on Tuesday, March 12th. Advanced in-person voting (aka Early voting) begins on February 19th and will end on Friday, March 8th. You can also vote by mail using an absentee ballot. To obtain an absentee ballot, apply here.

To find an Early voting location near you or your election day voting precinct, visit the Secretary of State’s “My Voter Page.” Enter your information and it will display your Election Day voting precinct. To find an Early voting location near you click on “Early Voting Polling Locations” in the “Polling Information” section of the page.

You can also view a sample ballot for your polling location.

The purpose of the Presidential Preference Primary is to allow Democrats and Republicans to select their nominees for President. Your vote could help your preferred candidate secure the delegates necessary for winning the nomination of their political party. Once the primary process is over, the winning candidate accepts their Party’s nomination at either the Democratic Party’s or Republican Party’s National Convention. The candidates on the Presidential Preference Primary ballot are as follows.

Democrats:

Republicans:

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR REPUBLICANS: almost all of the candidates listed on the Republican Presidential Preference Primary Ballot have suspended their campaigns, meaning they are no longer running for President. As I type, only Ryan L. Binkley, Nikki Haley, and Donald J. Trump are active candidates. Votes for candidates who have suspended their campaigns are essentially wasted votes.

One last piece of information. Voters who live in Georgia House District 125 will vote in a runoff election in addition to the Presidential Preference Primary. Two candidates are facing off for the right to represent District 125 in the State Legislature; Gary Richardson, and C.J. Pearson.
